What tools should an inker buy? 2 September 2010 Brushes. Other artists use brushes more than I do. I use the brush usually with hair, with leaves, grass and some special effects. "Brush men" like Jeff Smith uses the brush to draw practically everything, which requires a degree of control that I have yet to attain.
