Gabriela Merediz is a multifaceted artist whose work reflects her interest in exploring expression. An alumnus of Vanderbilt University, where she studied communication and art, Gabriela understands the power of visual images. Her paintings express her reaction to that which inspires her, whether it is a dream, an idea, an emotion, or a vista. Mainly interested in the various ways that different people interpret the world around them, she contrasts realism with a mythical sensibility to draw the viewer into her paintings. She works with many media, concentrating particularly in oil, and also paints portraits in oil and charcoal. Gabriela currently resides in Wilmington, NC. Her work has been published in "The Thanksgiving Turkey Marathon," a children's book, the Vanderbilt Review 2000, Vanderbilt Magazine, and she has an ongoing exhibition at the Student Center at Vanderbilt University. Her work hangs in many private collections nationwide.
