About The Artist

Terri Cabral - 2010
Artist's Statement:
"As an artist and as a person I believe that life, the world and her inhabitants are basically good. In my paintings, whether they are of people, plants or animals, I strive to reveal this simple, yet universal, truth.
I am self taught. At the age of ten I picked up a pencil and began to draw portraits. My uncle Antonio Gattorno, who was one Cuba’s Modern Masters, often gave me art supplies – pens, ink, charcoal, paints, canvases and even his own drawing table. But I never took lessons from him. My family did not want to impose on him. I would often study his paintings that hung in his home and the homes of my relatives. I continue to be greatly influenced by his work. He was known for his versatility and his ability to paint masterfully in a variety of styles. I am constantly experimenting with styles and developing my sense of versatility."
...Terri Cabral - 2005
She is an American artist of Portuguese descent who currently resides in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA but grew up on the shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA. She began drawing and painting at the age of ten. She won several first place awards in elementary and high school art exhibits that featured her portraits of family and friends.
After working for five years with her life partner, Sean, on the biography and life works of her uncle, Cuban Master Painter, Antonio Gattorno, she found a renewed zest for painting. Her paintings have sold through the Internet, a gallery in Miami, FL, and in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Ms. Cabral participated in an International Artists Workshop in Chania, Crete in October 2002, where several artists from the US, India, the Netherlands and Greece came together to paint, enjoy each other’s company and share their works. It culminated in an exhibition of all the works.
“...Terri Cabral, also from the USA and of Portuguese ancestry, is primarily a romantic painter, who depicts primarily landscapes from memory and imagination.”...
