50 years ago, it was popular to locate the family telephone at the bottom of a stairway. Probably this the root cause for young ladies to develop their attachment to phones in later life, and to subconsciously learn to park their shopping carts in the middle of Supermarket aisles I spent a lot of time on this scene to try to show part of a household that I remember. I think the staircase, the shading of colors and the addition of some shadow are about right.
This scene was another early freehand work done from early
memories.
Marlene's eye colors were the focus of my energies in this work.
The Tiger
was specially done for a favorite granddaughter. It was my first attempt to do it freehand
with no sketch as an outline. I discovered to my pleasure that I could now enjoy the
feeling I get when working with oils or acrylics on a canvass.. even though it takes much
longer.
I wanted a subject
for a Christmas Card and borrowed this from an advertisement. It gave me the opportunity
to try tracing through the plastic screen on the Wacom tablet.
Students may chose to practice color management skills by
using a black & white newspaper photo as a guide.
This sketch was an
attempt to achieve a charcoal effect.
Your comments or suggestions would be most welcome.
