This image consists of four plates. The background plate was copper. At first the earth area was blocked out with a stencil made from contact paper. The softground was applied and a variety of weeds were laid down and run through the press and etched. Next, the background was covered with hardground and the contact paper removed. I used cotton wool and dabbed the earth area with Graphic Chemical Block Printing Ink and etched. Now the copper plate was done. The figures were drawn on paper and then scanned into my computer and printed onto acetate. Each figure was then exposed to a Solarplate and developed. (See Printmaking Tips) During the printing process the Solarplates were held in place with a magnetic sheet.
