Now the work--and fun--really begins. The groundwork has been laid and it's matter of using those artistic skills to bring life to the information. I had the clay work photographed at three different stages and will make comments along the way.

In this first stage of building up the face, I have slowly started to add clay using both the tissue depth marker guidelines and the sculpted muscles. I have added the neck, keeping in mind the large muscles that hold it to the rest of the body. The ears are one element of the face for which there is little information to be garnered from the bone. We know where the center of the ear is located and that the angle of the ear usually follows the angle of the jaw. That's about it. We don't know if her ears stuck out, if they were either large or small for her face, if the lobs hung, or even the general shape. As a result, I went with the most generic ears, using a height and width in average proportion to the rest of her face.
